HOW DOES A ONE-DAY 200-PERSON CONFERENCE END UP HAVING
AN IMPACT ON MORE THAN 2 MILLION PEOPLE, WORLDWIDE?
FOCUSING ON IDEAS THAT REALLY MATTER.

PROJECT

I founded TEDxJaffa with the intention of bringing a TED-like experience to my local community. Producing the day-long conference included the following:

  • Recieved a $10K grant from the US Embassy

  • Raised more than $25K in in-kind donations

  • Sold all 200 tickets available

  • Curated a program of 12 speakers and performers around the theme 'Paradigm Shift'

  • Developed content with speakers ensuring their idea was ready for the TEDx stage

  • Built team of 8 core organizers and 30 volunteers

  • End-to-end production; working with designers, photographers, videographers, printers, caterers, etc.

RESULTS

TEDxJaffa received excellent reviews and was covered in the Huffington Post, Jerusalem Post and Ha’aretz newspaper. The talk of one of our speakers, Rony Edry, was also chosen to be featured on TED.com, garnering more than two million views on the website, generating over 800 comments, and creating a genuine impact with his message of peace and love between Israel, Iran, and all other countries seemingly at odds with one another. Here's what some participants had to say about their experience in a post-event survey:

  • "The speakers coalesced around the theme perfectly. It was an enriching, exciting and moving event."

  • "The combination of the theme, the venue, the speakers, and the general atmosphere, made the whole event an unforgettable experience."

  • "Everything was perfect: the organization, the speakers, the performance, the breaks and food, as well as the atmosphere. The host did a marvelous work!"

  • "Very powerful talks, speaking from the heart. I found myself moved to tears."
